Default SSAS 2005: XMLA code to process incrementally all dimensions - 06-19-2006 , 04:11 PM

Hi,

Is there a XMLA code to process all dimensions (incremental) at once?
For one dimension I know code is:
<Batch xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/analysisservices/2003/engine">

<Parallel>

<Process xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">

<Object>

<DatabaseID>myDBName</DatabaseID>

<DimensionID>My Dim Name</DimensionID>

</Object>

<Type>ProcessUpdate</Type>

<WriteBackTableCreation>UseExisting</WriteBackTableCreation>

</Process>

</Parallel>

</Batch>

But here I have to name dimensions I want to process. How about all of them?

Thanks

Hello vimas,

Based on my scope, there is no simple code to do this. You need develop a
program to query the dimension name and replace the part in xmla code.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en...using_794j.asp

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/lib...L.90).aspx#Dim

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms187199.aspx

Hello Aaron,

This is Yanhong from Microsoft Partner Support Group and I am the manager
of Newsgroup Support Team.

Thanks very much for your feedback. We are looking at continual improvement
and will definitely pay more attention on language skills.

For the technical part, I discussed it with Peter. In SSAS 2005, we
recommend to use Analysis Management Objects (AMO):
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/lib...L.90).aspx#Dim
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms187199.aspx
Peter also included the above two links in his reply.

For DSO, though it still can be used in SSAS 2005 for compatibility
purpose, we all agree that it is better if we can add a comment to mention
that AMO is recommended now in SSAS 2005.

Thanks very much.

Sincerely,
Yanhong Huang

I have not noticed any problem with english or DSO/AMO.
Peter answer is exactly what I was looking for.
I am not sure why Aaron went crazy here

Thanks Peter
