Default SSAS 2005. Disaster recovery. - 02-06-2006 , 10:12 AM

Hi,

please could you help me to recovery my SSAS.
The disk with data dir is couurupt.
I have backups of all databases.
I set up new disk, made data dir, but the SSAS service can't be started.
I get a message:

The service cannot be started: File system error: Error opening file;
\\?\E:\OLAP\DATA\CryptKey.bin is not a disk file or file is not accessible.
File system error: Error opening file; \\?\E:\OLAP\DATA\CryptKey.bin is not
a disk file or file is not accessible.

How can I recover my server? Where do I get these files?
Could anybody tell me what files from data dir schould I backup?

Thanks,

Vladimir Chtepa.

If you have backup for all databases, just clean your data directory before
restoring the backup.

Hi Edward,

I have written in my original post that the SSAS service doesn't start with
empty data dir. The service asks for a CryptKey.bin
Where can I get it?

Thanks,

Vladimir Chtepa

Hmm..

I guess we have a little communication gap.

But anyhow.

I don't think the problem with CryptKey.bin the file is generated by the
server on the start up if doesn't exist.

I suspect you are trying to start Analysis Server with low privileged
account. Try to changing the service account for Analysis Server.
