Default SSAS 2005: Can I create calculated member in hierarchy? - 01-10-2006 , 04:15 PM

Hi,

I would like to create calculated member in hierarchy, but I am getting
message that calculated member cannot be parent for another calculated
member. Is there known workaround for this?

It is not really what I want to do, but example with date is easier to
understand:

Example on [Report Date] dimension I have hierarchy [Report Date]. This
hierarchy has 4 levels: [Report Yr], [Report Qtr],[Report Mth] and [Report
Day].

I can easily create new [Report Yr] level value by:
Create Member CurrentCube.[Report Date].[Report Date].[All].[My New Year] AS
1;

But now I want to add Qtr level value for this calculated member:

Create Member CurrentCube.[Report Date].[Report Date].[All].[My New
Year].[My New Qtr] AS 1;

And I am getting error:

Error 1 The Start calculated member cannot be used as a parent of another
calculated member. 0 0

I hope you got idea what I want to do. Is this possible in AS 2005?

Thanks

Hi Vimas,

To better understand your questions, is it possible for you to generate a
sample based on Foodmart? More detailed information, I believe, will make
us closer to the resolution.
