Default SSAS 2005: Base role security on a perspective - 10-06-2006 , 09:37 AM

Hi,
in one of our cubes we are making extensive use of perspectives.
What I would like do, is to limit the measures and dimension of certain user
groups to a corresponding perspective.
Obviously I can create a role for each user group and select the relevant
measures dimensions to be accessable for that role.
However it would be much more convienient to allow a role only to access a
certain perspective. I am pretty sure I read that this is possible but I
don't seem to find a way to set this up.

Thanks

Bjoern

not possible

perspectives are not deisgned to help the security management.
If a user access 1 cube, then the user can access all perspectives too. You
can't restrict the perspectives available by user.

everybody ask to have a security like you describe (limiting access by
perspective) but today its not possible.

you can use the linked feature to create a new cube and link it to the first
one and restrict what you link or not.
