Default SQL Server 7.0 OLAP and Windows Server 2003 - 09-01-2006 , 02:31 PM

Hi all,

I know that SQL Server 7.0 is not supported specifically on Windows Server
2003; but, I have a question. Here are the specifics below:

1)We recently upgraded one of our web servers to Windows Server 2003.

2)We have a separate database server that is running SQL Server 7.0 (SP4) on
Windows 2000 Server.

3)The problem is: We are unable to query the production cubes running on
the above mentioned database server from the new web server running Windows
Server 2003.

4)The MDAC version running on the database server is lower than the one
running on the new web server. I was previously receiving an error message
that read: "Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed."

5.)In an attempt to correct the ole db provider issue, I tried installing
the OLAP "Client Components" from the SQL Server 7 installation CD onto the
new Windows Server 2003 web server. Now, instead of receiving the "Provider
cannot be found..." error message, the progress bar on my browser simply
freezes at the half-way mark on the section of our website that the OLAP call
takes place.

If anyone has any thoughts, suggestions, or comments that might help I would
be terribly grateful.

Thank You!
Justin
