Default Speed of .CUB file versus Analysis Services - 01-26-2004 , 04:16 PM

Hello,

It seems that when I create a very big cube file that processing
queires takes a very long time versus if I connect straight to
Analysis Services. What is up?

I am connectiing to a .CUB file using the MS OWC pivot table
component. Anyway to speed this up like it was in analysis services?
I created a cube file using the CREATE GLOBAL CUBE procedure.

Hi,

A few question to help answer,
What kind of hardware (cpu, memory, disk) the Analysis Services and the
..CUB/OWC are running on?
What size is your "very big cube"?

..CUB files are much slower than "real" cubes, particularly as they get
large.

Cub files do not contain any aggregations. Therefore
queries are all calculated "on the fly".
