Default Sorting of month names in Excel with local cube - 04-13-2006 , 08:25 AM

I have a cube in AS2005 with a Year-Month-Day Parent-child hierarchy as a
time dimension. I am using a different NameColumn to the KeyColumn, but with
Order by Key.

In Excel 2003 pivot table, the month names show in the correct sort order
when connected to AS, but when I create a local cube the order changes to
alphabetical, i.e. April 2005, August 2005, December 2005, February 2005...
etc.

I'm afraid I don't use OLAP much, so I'm not sure what to do to get the sort
order to "stick" in the local cube. I'm sure it used to work fine in AS2000.
Can anybody help?

Hello,

Did you try it the pivottable? I was not able to connect 2005 local cube
file due to some internal errors. In pivottable, I test foodmart local cube
and the order seems to be correct.

It is with Excel pivot tables that I am having the problem.
Foodmart is not supplied with AS 2005 so I cannot try that, although, if I
recall correctly, the time dimension in that sample is not a parent-child
hierarchy anyway.

Hello,

Based on the feedback from product team, this issue shall be fixed in SQL
2005 SP1. Can you try SP1 (it just became available) -- you will need to
re-create the local cube from a SP1 server.
