Should I use an LDAP server to store authorizations? -

Hi Group,
Please shed some light on this. We currently have AS2K running with
Panorama's Novaview as the front-end server. It's great. We use the
special Novaview security system so we don't have to use the
role-based security system. This is for a number of very valid reasons
that I won't bother you with. The important thing to know is that this
system is using MDX strings stoed in a SQL Server database.
Anyway, all's great. *But*. Noew Reporting Services comes along and we
like it. We can fill the hole in our application landscape and do real
reporting instead of twisting Novaview's ear to do reporting. The
problem is security. There's no way we can make Reporting Services
work with the Novaview security, not just because RS won't be querying
on As, but on a RDBMS.
Next to that, another department in the company is setting up an LDAP
server to try and create a single-sign-on system. We're already using
the LDAP for authentication of Novaview users.
Would it be wise to also use the LDAP system to store both the MDX
strings for Novaview as well as (in some form or another) the
authorizations for Reporting Services? Would this be very redundant?
As You see, I'm not very well informed in the workings of LDAP
systems.
Thanks,
