Default Shared DIM Filter - 12-12-2003 , 09:27 AM

I have a shared DIM that is being used into two cubes. In
the cube editor for cube 1 I would like to write a DIM
source filter that limits the memebrs of the DIM. Also in
cube 1 I have filtered the source fact table so there
would never be the possiblilty of my fact table refering
to a member in the DIM that wasn't there due to my
filter. In cube 2 I want to do the same thing but change
the filter of the DIM again as well as filter the fact
table for cube 2.

Any ideas?

Hi Michael,

Thanks for your post. Based on your description, I understand that you want
to restrict members using "Source Table Filter" property in the shared
dimension which is used in two cubes. Also, it seems that the filter
condition of the dimension which you need in the two cubes is different on
your side. If I have misunderstood, please feel free to let me know.

Based on my research, the "Source Table Filter" of the dimension is used to
filter the source table to restrict member, whereas this property of the
cube is used to filter the source table to restrict data. Also, in the cube
view, the property of the dimension is grayed out and cannot be set there.
Therefore, the "Source Table Filter" property of the dimension used to
restrict member is dimension-specific. I am afraid it cannot be changed in
the cube view. If your cube has different filter requests of this
dimension, it is best to create another new dimension to meet the
requirements.

Thanks for using MSDN newsgroup.
