Default Scorecard Accelerator - 06-09-2004 , 01:48 PM

http://www.microsoft.com/office/solu...hnologies.mspx

Disappointed to see that it only works with windows server 2003 operating
system.....then the
trying out phase is a little bit further away....need to find someone with
the equipment.

I can see that sharepoint portal is mentioned - is it possible to install
some tools in order to try out the accelerator above or
is it necessary to get af full functioning sharepoint portal ?

No. It works with Sharepoint Teamservice (free) as well.

its not sharepoint team services, the real name is
Windows Sharepoint Services.
You have to download it from the Microsoft web site, but Windows 2003 server
is required.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserv...t/default.mspx

WSS is free with Windows 2003, Portal server is not free (but provides more
functionalities)
On the web site you'll find all the information about these 2 products.

Just 1 point, if you already have an SQL Server 2000 (standard or
enterprise) server installed on your computer, during the installation
process, install WSS as a web farm. This installation doesn't install MSDE
because WSS use some SQL Server 2000 databases to store his content.
After the installation, you have to setup the connection to your SQL Server
2000 server, and WSS will create the databases for you.
Also, the standard or enterprise edition of SQL Server add a feature in WSS
: the search capability, because the search engine use the SQL Server search
feature.

And to finish... you MUST have SQL Server 2000 (standard or enterprise) on
your network, because Scorecard Accelerator uses Analysis Services (provided
with SQL Server standard or enterprise, NOT available in MSDE) cubes to fill
the KPIs.

Good luck !
But the installation is smooth.
