I have Sql2000EE Sp3a Win2003.
I have a parent-child dimension with 800.000 + members.
When I try to create a cube role for this dimension that it's allowed to see
only some members I get an error message that it's telling :
Error in the security definiton for the dimension 'Prov_mandant_company_doc'
{[Prov_mandant_company_doc].&[id1],...,[Prov_mandant_company_doc'].&[idn]}
it's invalid or something.

(I have a german version. In german it's saying : Fehler in der Definition
der Dimensionssichercheit für die Dimension 'Prov_mandant_company_doc' . Der
Ausdruck
'{[Prov_mandant_company_doc].&[id1],...,[Prov_mandant_company_doc'].&[idn]}'
kann nicht ausgewertet werden)


The set
{[Prov_mandant_company_doc].&[id1],...,[Prov_mandant_company_doc'].&[idn]}
is valid, so there is no typing error. I've create the role with the
Analysis Manager. For the other dimensions/cubes the roles are working
properlly.
For this dimension the Analysis Server create the msmdvldm.exe process.

Do you have any ideea what this can be? Any solutions, hints?

Hi,

another thing that I found about the problem above.

If I disable msmdvldm.exe usage everything works ok.

The problem is that I need that because I have many cubes and dimensions on
my live server and around 120+ security roles with around 10-20 concurent
users who are using the cubes pretty intensive.

Because it's a 32 bit install (I will get no money for a 64 one this year)
I can't use more than 1.7 - 2.7 G RAM and this is pretty fast used with
10-20 user accessing some 150Mb dimensions (800.000+ elements) ( olap
creting shadow dimension for each role)


Does anyone have any ideea how can I use security roles together with the
msmdvldm ?


Please tell me any hints, things that you think it can help me.
