Default Results cannot be displayed for cellsets with more than two axes - 07-20-2005 , 08:41 AM

I'm trying to develop some queries for a reporting application that I need to
build. I want to be able to test my queries but whever I try to use more
than the rows and columns axis I get the "Results cannot be displayed for
cellsets with more than two axes." How can I develop queries with SQL
Management Studio that are going to use more than two Axis?

You can't. In fact this is a limitation of many tools, i.e. they only know
how to render 2-dimensional, table-like structures.

The sample app won't allow anything on axis other than 0 or 1, but other
front end tools do.

Pro Clarity and Panorama WILL allow members and/or sets on pages, sections,
chapters (axis 2,3,4, etc) but you have to realize what they're doing. When
pivot table puts things "on pages" (axis 2) it's actually displaying the
member, but not as part of the cellset, like axis 0 and 1 will. Tools like
Pro Clarity and Panorama don't do this per se, but the cellset results are
still exactly the same. They're basically filtering your cellset more by
whichever members or sets you put on those axis.
