Default Restored a database in AS - 11-10-2004 , 10:28 PM

Hi,

I back up a AS'database and restored into another
computer. Then, I changed the connection under the title
of data souces. But, the name of data source in
dimensions and cubes have been fixed to the old one.
They can not be changed at all.

Therefore, do you know how to change the name of data
source to a new one? Otherwise, I have to re-create all
dimensions and cubes.

Thank you.

Kit

The short answer is that you can change the underlying connect string
(server and database), but not the *name* of the data source, see the SSAS
Operations Guide
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/pro.../anservog.mspx
in the section titled "Data Source Configuration"

This is why one of our recommendations is that immediately after you create
the data source that you re-create it with a logical name, e.g. Sales Data,
or Inventory Data, rather than with server and database names (which is the
default).
