It depends what you're looking for and obviously how much
you're prepared to pay...

If you've got Excel you can use Pivot Tables to connect to
cubes for some limited functionality. Plug-ins exist for
Excel to enhance this functionality try googling 'excel
plug-ins olap'.

If you're looking for a stand-alone desktop client we use
ProClarity (www.proclarity.com) which offers a decent
level of functionality and a moderately useful API, which
you can use to deliver web reports. Cognos
(www.cognos.com) are another company doing well in this
market, and there are lots of others. Usually these aren't
cheap, but it's worth checking out
www.hungrydogsoftware.com for their OLAP client.

Thirdly you can deliver a reporting tool via the browser,
although frequently a ActiveX control is required as well.

And then there's Reporting Services...
http://www.microsoft.com/sql/reporting/default.asp

Finally go to www.olapreport.com for a full breakdown of
your options, though needless to say you need to pay for
some of it...

HTH

Phil.

Hi,

We have very great results with Panorama NovaView for webbased BI/OLAP
solutions based on MS AS 2000. For a Windows client you should test
both Panorama NovaView and DW Explorer as well. We have trials of both
software for tetsing on your own enterprise systems. Please let me
know if interested.

Marco

Thank you. Do you have experience with Crystal Reports and/or Crystal Analysis?

Yee-

You must think, when you talk about Crystal, you now have to think of
Business Objects. This past year Business Objects bought out Crystal,
or it might be vice versa... So Crystal Anaysis might, stress might,
be out of the picture.

Actually from VB and VB.net background Crystal reports/Analysis is the first
thing that comes to mind when I think of reporting. I have been playing with
crystal analysis a bit, and it seems decent enough but I don't have any
reference for comparison. I was actually more worry that I am missing out on
something more superior.

It is a worry about it being bought over by Business Objects though.

Yee
