Default Reporting Services question - 12-02-2003 , 06:44 AM

Hi.
I didnt' find any newsgroup related to Reporting Services; therfore
since it's kinda related to OLAP, that is why I'm porting to this one. I
apologize if it is not the good group.

I can't find much information about this SQL addon. I know it will be a
good development tool for .NET programming but my main question is: Could I
replace my Cognos Impromptu with this tool for my end user? I mean, will
simple user be able to create their own reports based on a kind of
predefined catalog (Where IT Defined available tables and links between
them)?

Any clue would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you have not registered to officially be on the beta team for RS, you can
do so at betaplace.com upon which you will have access to the beta
newsgroups for reporting services. In regards to your question, the OLAP
abilities of the current version of RS allow you to write MDX against a cube
but I don't know the extent of enabling client customizations. The beta
newsgroup would be your best bet.
