through a major problem, we have lost the Analysis
services repository.

we still have the physical cubes and databases.

how can i reinsert the cubes into the repository?

so we can see them in Analysis Manager?

thanks.

Hello Truby,

I've just learned this from Bas Kersten (see the recent "VIOLATION OF
PRIMARY KEY..." entry in the discussion group). You'll need another
server where you would have a clean AS install, hence a good
repository. Restore your databases and .CABs to this server and
process. Now you should have a Repository that's good for your
databases and cubes. Make a backup of this Repository and restore it
to the machine where you want to run it. Process and that should do
it. I did variations of this on a test machine and it worked. I think
you should try this extensively before running it on a production
environment.

Good luck
Alex

That would be great if we still had a backup of the repository database
and had cab files.

in fact, if i had the cab files there would be no problem at all.

The problem i face is that we do not have the old repository, or any way
of retrieving it. We dont have any .CAB files. (this is called a really
really bad backup system - if i had been managing it, this would have
never happened!)

i only have the physical cube files. thats it. no backups, nothing.

if you look in "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Analysis Services\Data" this
is all i have left. thats it.

only the .ODB files and folders for each cube.

Somehow i need to get these available again in the Analysis Manager.

Thanks.

Truby.
