Hi all,

I will appreciate if anyone can advise on the following
questions which I have on Analysis Server of SQL 2000 :

1. I have a machine with teo instances installed. One wtih
SQL 7 (named XYZ - machine name)while the other one
with SQL 2000 (named XYZ\SQL2K - machine name\server
name). After installing the Analysis services, the
system only registered the server with my machine name
, that is XYZ. When attempted to register manually the
other server XYZ\SQL2K, the system returns an error
indicating that the server cannot be found, though it
is physically there? How can I resolve the problem?

Thanks in advance.

Regards
Kwok Meng

Multi-instance support is only for the RDBMS.
Only one installation of Analysis Services is possible for a machine.

Hi Kwok,

Thanks for your post. I agree with Dave. Although Analysis Services can
connect to multiple instances of SQL Server running on a single computer,
multiple instances of Analysis Services on a single computer cannot be
installed.

For more information regarding this issue, please refer to the following
articles:

Please feel free to post in the group if this solves your problem or if you
would like further assistance.
