yes, right. But the person who uses CrystalAnalysis or any other OLAP-
Tool (a Excel-Plugin) für example, has to reorder the
columns of the dimension.
In this specific case, it's his part to rearrange the fields to
have a different view on the data.
If I would create dimensions for all possible permutations of
the fields - that wouldn't be very clear...

You say that there are many possible ways to arrange the
levels of a dimension. It would seem that redefining those
levels as independent dimensions would be the best answer.
Usually it makes no sense to exchange levels in a
hierarchy, if Cities roll up into States, States don't
roll up into Cities. Maybe you could elaborate on why your
dimension is different.
