Everybody knows how to use Excel, but the OLAP functionality is limited to
browsing unless you do a lot of custom programming. Several vendors make
Excel add-ins and those are worth looking at.

XMLA is a protocol, not a product. The advantage of XMLA is when you have
really large dimensions. It keeps the dimensional metadata on the server so
you don't have to download massive volumes of metadata to the client.

I have experience with ProClarity and Panorama. It's hard to beat the
ProClarity Professional thick client. The zero footprint, browser based
clients are OK if you are doing basic (read that as really, really basic)
reporting. Otherwise they are all underpowered.

Al,

Have you compared ProClarity with XLCubed web edition?
Or even with MIS Plain, IntelligentApps & O2OLAP.
I'd be interested how you think they compare.
