I doubt it's possible without extensive customization, and even then I have
doubts. Would a local cube (.cub) do the trick?

Hello All

I'm using OWC 10.0 (XP) for browsing by OLAP Cube.

I need to show only certain dimension values to specific
users and i want to use DATA RESTRICTION thru MDX.
(Unfortunately i cannot use roles for this purpose due to
internal issues)

can anyone tell me as to how could i bring only a few
dimension values to my Pivot thru MDX or any other way ...

when i use FILTER function in MDX then i see only those
dimension values that i wish to see in my pivot but when i
remove auto filter then all the dimension values are
displayed.

what i want to achieve is to bring only few dimension
values for specific users from the cube to the pivot.
How can i do it with OWC 10.0

Any response is appreciated.

Madan

Hi Tom

Thanks for your response.

I tried using to use some events like BeforeCommandExecute
to restrict the user from viewing all the dimension values.

but unfortunately there is no event available to trap this
functionality.

is there a way that i can restrict thru client-side
programming?

one more question is, When i connect to olap cube passing
parameter like this

Provider=MSOLAP.1;Data Source=Servername;Initial
Catalog=MyExplorer;Client Cache Size=25;Auto Synch
Period=10000

it takes the user as the currently logged in NT user
login. Is it possible to supply a different NT user name
in the connection string so that i use roles on the
serverside to restrict my Dimension data?

Awaiting your response

Madan
