You can enter/test queries using the MDX Sample App that installs along with
the product.

How do I bring up the query window to type and run a query to create a new

rpt (not measures), I cannot use "WITH MEMBER......" key word in the "Value
expression" window and the new member appears in the calculated member
section of the cube editor other than as a member of rpt dimension.

Oh, I didn't get it ... to persist a calculation you use the Cube Editor.
(Right-click cube, edit, right click Calc Members, New)

"WITH MEMBER" is used to create calcs on-the-fly as part of a SELECT
statement -- you do NOT enter this in the Cube Editor, just the formula.

Thanks Tom.
Ok... I got the query correct and saved away the .MDX file. Now how do I
make this new member available in the Cube/Dimention for my users to use?

Thanks Tom. My fault... I need to copy and paste the formula to the cube edit area to create a member that will be permanently avilable when browsing. I don't know what on-the-fly members would be used for yet
