can you browse a cube from 32bits server?
instead of connecting the management studio to browse the objects, try to
open a connection to browse a cube or execute an MDX query against a cube.
have you any firewall activated?
does your 2 servers have the same SP level?

I think the problem appear to be a network issue.
verify the DNS config of the 2 servers
take a look at the event log of the 2 servers to see any warning or specific
errors.

I have 1 32 bits server, 1 x64 bits server and some XP workstation with
management studio, and everything works fine, I can manage every server from
everywhere correctly.

Hi,
I really need some help with this one. I have tried a good number of
suggestions and changes to configuration - none seems to be working.

We have 2 servers in our environment: Server 01 (front-end) and Server 02
(data or back-end). Here is the error I encountered when I tried to
connect
to SSAS on server 02 using Mgmt Studio client on server 01:

TITLE: Connect to Server
------------------------------

Cannot connect to XYZ_02.

------------------------------
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

A connection cannot be made. Ensure that the server is running.
(Microsoft.AnalysisServices.AdomdClient)

------------------------------

A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly
respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because
connected host has failed to respond (System)

------------------------------
BUTTONS:

OK
------------------------------

However, I have no problem connecting to a SS 2K5 database residing on
this
database server (02). Both servers are on the same domain. Windows
authentication only access. The servers have the configurations below.

Server 01 (32-bit) has the following configurations:
. MS Windows Server 2003 Ent Ed SP1
. MS Internet Information Services 6.0
. MS Windows SharePoint Services 2.0
. MS SharePoint Portal Server 2003
. MS SQL Server 2005 Ent Ed Database Engine
. MS SQL Server 2005 Ent Ed Reporting Services
. MS SQL Server 2005 Ent Ed Analysis Services
. MS SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services 9.0 OLEDB Provider
. MS Office Business Scorecard Manager 2005 (Server and Builder)
. MS ADOMD.NET 8.0 and 9.0
. MS .NET Framework 1.1 and 2.0

Server 02 (64-bit) has the following configurations:
. MS Windows Server 2003 Ent x64 Ed
. MS SQL Server 2005 Ent Ed Database Engine
. MS SQL Server 2005 Ent Ed Integration Services
. MS SQL Server 2005 Ent Ed Analysis Services
. MS SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services 9.0 OLEDB Provider
. MS SQL Server 2005 SP1
. MS ADOMD.NET 9.0
. MS .NET Framework 2.0

What am I missing? I read something about using Kerberos and problem with
64-bit. Has anyone tried to implement an architecture similar to this?
At
this point, I'm desperate to get something working.

Thanks much,
Amos
