Default Question with Dimensions - 01-14-2004 , 01:48 PM

Hello,
I am fairly new to Analysis services and have the following question
in regard to shared dimensions:

If I have a master shared Parts dimension with say 200,000 parts, and
I am accessing this from a cube whos fact table references only 20,000
of those parts
how do I hide or suppress the rest of the 180,000 parts from showing
in my cube.

Wondering if this is possible or I am doing something incorrectly?

Appreciate any help.

One way is to define a view on top on the table and use the view to source
the dimension.
