Not very impressive tool, i will go with Cognos, if i have to choose. One of major issue with Proclarity is performance, as Proclarity submits query in Proclarity MDX format and doesnot use the prebuilt Aggregation, Very less help is available to automate some my requriments .. We managed to get some stuff out the door but have a list of about 50 real issues with the products. One of the most frustrating things is lack of better conrol for the legends. Once they get too big - they just start dropping rows. So when you allow drilldowns across other dimensions - it creates a problem if there are more members than can display. We publish the cube to AS and Proclairty connects to AS and we can see all the available cubes to browse. Now in Proclairty, we have many ready views saves within ProClarity library. Now we have to convert the saved view into PDF for auditors as proof of reports. Is there any way, we can automate Proclarity's view into PDF ? Thank you, Kris. |

But that only resolves one set of slices for a given "report" and not all possible cells of a cube, but you may not need that. Depending on robust you want to make it, you could just do some SendKey calls from either a simple VB app or Excel and have that provide the scripting. For a more robust approach, use ADOMD library in another VS.Net app to pass various sets of MDX queries, and take that resultset and print those. (you'd probaly just cut & paste the current MDX queries out of the ProClarity books and use those). You could also use Office 12 and the Pivot Tables to get what you want. Just iteratively populate the property that is populated for the MDX queries (.Command something or other) and then hash each report to a new sheet and loop through each sheet and print. -exologic |
