Default Process Log File in MSAS 2005? - 11-04-2005 , 01:11 PM

Hi,

I can npt locate the process log file in MSAS 2005. I am building cube

Thanks,

You use SQL Profiler. It has events similar to what you see in the process
dialog box. In fact, the process dialog box is actually openning up a trace
in the background and monitoring the trace -- that is where the progress
messages come from.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the response.

But will it "save / log" the events to a file so that our DBA's can run
traces at a later stage to see any possible performance bottle necks?

Also we need this log for documentation purposes so that we can compare to
the log next time when we run the same partitions after tuning.

I agree that there is a need here.
I am just telling you what is available right now through the UI.
