Default Problems with Virtual CUbes part 2 - 03-18-2005 , 07:19 AM

Also, the measures show up as two different measures. For example, I have a
measure in each cube called "Units". When I create the virtual cube, I end
up with Units and Units 1, representing Unit Sales in 2003 (Units) and Unit
Sales in 2004 (Units 1). Is there any way to roll all that up so that I
just have units.

As an example for the last posting about the dimensions my time dimension is
Week Number. So during the virtual cube design, I have the option of
picking Week Number from the 2003 cube or the 2004 cube. I can't pick them
both and this limits the output set.

What i'd like to do is be able to see all weeks for both years and all the
measures combined.

Thanks
-Malcolm

p.s. Sorry about the two posts, but I couldn't reply to my own message
because it hadn't posted on the news server yet.

You use partitioning instead of virtual cube.

Partitioning cube is according to partitioning fact table horizontally at
data source. Creating separate cubes and virtual cube based on them is
according to partitioning fact table vertically at data source and creating
view based on them.
