Default Problem using member security + distinct count - 08-29-2003 , 12:13 PM

Hi all,

Our client uses Analysis Services + Office 2000. To have
member security at the cubes (all dimensions are private,
so we have Cube Roles), the client machines need to
connect to the Server using Microsoft OLE DB Provider for
OLAP Services 8.0.

That was working fine till the day we created a distinct
count measure at the cube. Now, at the Test Role option,
we get the following Message:
"Unable to process one or more commands.
Connection to the Server is lost."

At the Analysis Services browser I can perfectly see the
cube, but as our users try to connect to it using Excel
2000, they get an error when they drag and drop any of
the measures to the Data Area.

If I delete the distinct count measure, the cube works
fine again.

Has anyone seen this problem before?
Tks a lot,
yang

Yes, I hit this. Distinct count is not compatable with dimension security.
