Default Problem restoring master database on cluster - 12-08-2003 , 02:20 PM

Hey guys,

Sorry about reposting this issue but I never received a response to my
follow up from last week. Basically I am having a problem trying to
restore the master database on a w2k\sql2k active\passive cluster.

The problem is when I start sql server in singe user mode and try to
connect through query analyzer to run the restore I get a message that
the server is in single user mode and only one admin can be connected.
The last suggestion that I received was that maybe sqlagent was
grabbing the connection. So, I set sqlagent to do not restart in
cluster admin, removed it as a dependency in sqlserver and even
disabled it in services . Did the same thing with microsoft search
just in case. But, I keep getting the same message when I try to
connect. There aren't any other apps other than sql server and
cluster service that connect to this server (disaster recovery test
server). Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be grabbing this
connection? Has anyone seen this before? Let me know if any more
details are needed.

Thanks,
Greg
