Default Problem with dimension having more than 999 leaf nodes - 11-07-2005 , 02:21 PM

I have encountered an odd issue with the cube I am building. When we have
more than 999 leaf nodes of this dimension (total), a lot of the leaf nodes
become branch with children. The dimension actually looks ok when we only
process the dimension. The problem shows up when the cube using this
dimension is processed. Dimension is OK when leaf nodes are brought down
below 1000.

Have anyone seen this before? Is there a solution to fix this problem?

We are running SQL Server OLAP with SP4 on Server2003.

Take a look at the grouping advanced property on the dimension level. Maybe
that is set to automatic.

This doesn't apply to our model as we are not using automatic grouping. Is
there another cause for this issue?

Please give some more information, such as the table design and what the
dimension looks like when the problem appears.

This is an unbalanced dimension. We are hiding the member if it is the same
name as parent's name. We duplicated the same problem with a simple one
dimension cube.
