Default Problem in creating a Linked Cube - Urgent please - 05-17-2004 , 04:25 AM

Hi friends !!!

I've two PCs (say A and B) with MS Analysis servces. I'm (My LAN ID)
in the Administrator Group on both the machines. Also, I've given
myself Read access to the cube (say x) on Machine A.

Now I'm trying to create a linked cube from Machine B. I set the
connection to Machine A from Machine B successfully. The Connection
appears in my MSAS Data Sources folder on Machine B. However, when I
try to process the cube, I get the following message

"The Logon account for MSSQLServerOLAPService on 'Box B' might need to
be changed to a domain user account before the object can be processed
successfully. The new logon name will not take affect until you stop
and restart the service. The account must have query access to the
source cube."

Kindly suggest how can I go about processing the Linked Cube. Is there
anything (related to MSAS or Network permission) that I'm doing wrong?

Thanks for your time and suggestions.

Check on which ID is the MSSQLServerOLAPService running on Machine B
By Default, it will be running on NetworkService account. Please change that to your network ID (domainname\UserName) and restart the MSSQLServerOLAPService in Machine B

Hi Sanka !

Thanks for your suggestion. It works !!!

PS : Just a couple of lines to thank you and all others in the group
who are of so much help to newbies like me. May be, few of our queries
seem silly to you guys and may be, you would not take more than a
couple of seconds to put in the suggestions in your response (so you
may not feel like having done a great help), but you got to believe me
that people like you bring smiles on faces of novices who might have
spent at least a couple of hours frustrated and helpless. Please keep
up your good work. Hats off...guys.

Cheers,
