I am running SQL Server 2000 Analysis Server on a Windows 2000 Advanced Server machine, and the client on XP Home. Both server and client have Service Pack 4. I am working on a home workgroup, NOT a domain. When I try to connect to the Server from the client, I get the error message "Cannot open connection to Analysis Server 'sqlserver'. Error in data [possible data corruption]" Is this because I am not using a domain, or is there some other problem? I what I am trying to do actually possible, or do I need to set up a domain with properly authenticated users? I have had no problems at all at work, where we have a normal Window domain setup. |

Hi Sam, I have had this same problem two weeks ago. It could be a lot of thing but we might to begin to rule out a few ones, so this way, at first, have you got installed in the same place where is the cube, service pack 3 for OLAP Services? I am look forward to hearing from you, Enric "Sam Evans" wrote: I am running SQL Server 2000 Analysis Server on a Windows 2000 Advanced Server machine, and the client on XP Home. Hello Sam, I have seen something like this before. It appears when users try to authenticate to the Analysis Services repository. Analysis Services has a repository that's stored in an Access DB and uses an NT account to access the mdb. If you migrate the repository to SQL server this error may disappear. Check out this tech-net article on managing Analysis Services. See: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/pro.../anservog.mspx Look at the section titled 'Migrate the Repository ' If you try make sure you create a New SQL server DB do not migrate to MSDB. Hope this helps. Myles Matheson Data Warehouse Architect |
