Default Problem Connecting to Analysis Server (on Windows XP Home Edition) - 08-15-2004 , 10:49 PM

Windows XP Home. SQL Server 2000 installed Locally. Analysis Server
installed locally. Install went beautifully. When trying to Register
the local server, entering localhost (or the server name), I get the
error:

Analysis Manager:

Unable to Connect to the Registry on the Server (ROBBOLL), or you are
not a member of the OLAP Administrators group on the server.

On Windows XP Home, where how do I check to see if the OLAP
Administrators group is configured correctly?

Any ideas on how to deal with this problem? Thanks for any tips.

right click "my computer" then "manage"
after, navigate to find the user & groups, and under groups, you'll find the
OLAP Administrator group.

You must be sure to have servicepack 3a installed too.

You hit the nail on the head. All I did was add SP 3a and all
connectivity problems were solved. Thank you.

Also make sure you have the latest AS Service Pack (3) on
the server and your machine.
