Hi,

This is the first time I'm trying to connect to a newly-created cube in analysis server using Excel on a remote client machine. Thing is, when I'm done entering the info on the first screen of the "New Data Source" wizard, I get the following error:

Open connection failed
Access denied

The username and password I'm specifying exist in SQL Server (with owner priviledges) and in Windows (with admin rights).

What's the issue here? Is it a network thing? Where should I add/create rights for my user in order for this connection to work?

Thanks a million,

SC

Unless the user is in the OLAP Administrators group on the server, they will
need to added to a Database role with access to the cube on Analysis
Services. You can add the user through AS Manager.
