Default Proactive Caching on a Parent-Child dimension does not work - 11-10-2005 , 03:20 AM

Hi,

I am testing proactive caching on dimensions on SQL 2005 Enterprise Edition.
So, I have a very simple parent-child dimension table and simply try to
create a ROLAP dimension based on it with proactive caching.
Build works, deploy fails with the following metadata error (sorry, it's in
french):

This looks very strange since the dimension's storage mode property is set
to ROLAP and not MOLAP.

Is this feature not supported ? is there a way to perform this correctly ?

Many thx & rgds
Francois

I can't read the French so I don't know the exact nature of the error.
But from my understanding of proactive caching - it is meant to work
with MOLAP storage. It proactively reprocesses the MOLAP storage when
the underlying data changes, so it does not make sense to try and setup
proactive caching for ROLAP storage.
