I love this technology - however one of the annoying things is the fact that not all features in Analysis is supported by the pivottable client. My latest problem is the Dimension Security feature on Analysis - can anyone confirm that this isn't possible with the pivottable client ? If this is true I have to get this information to a client as soon as possible so they are aware of that when choosing what to do. \Michael V. |

My latest problem is the Dimension Security feature on Analysis - can anyone confirm that this isn't possible with the pivottable client ? If this is true I have to get this information to a client as soon as possible so they are aware of that when choosing what to do. Dimension security is enforced by the Analysis Services and therefore applies to all client tools. Please be more specific about problem you see - I've seen a lot of successful implmentations of Excel/OWC with dimension security. -- ================================================== Mosha Pasumansky - www.mosha.com/msolap Development Lead in the Analysis Server team All you need is love (John Lennon) Disclaimer : This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. ================================================== . |

Sorry - should have been a little more specific - made perhaps assumptions to fast. I have discussed it with a co- worker who actually has i running in a "real" client server environment - when i set it up on my laptop it doesn't have any affect when i look at the data from the pivottable with a user that has limited rights. |

Check whether that user is machine Administrator or member of the local OLAP Administrators NT group. This is usually a problem in such cases -- ================================================== Mosha Pasumansky - www.mosha.com/msolap Development Lead in the Analysis Server team All you need is love (John Lennon) Disclaimer : This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. ================================================== |
