Default Pivot Tables - 08-12-2004 , 11:19 AM

I am trying to connect to a cube in Analysis Services,
from a Pivot Table created in Excel.

It works, so long as I am a member of the OLAP
Administrator's group on the Server. However I need to
enable access the cube from Excel, for people who are not
in this group and should not be able to run Analysis
Manager.

We are using SQL Server 2003 SP3 and Office 2000 SP1A and
SP3.

Help appreciated...

you have to setup Authority on cube like go Manage Role and setup who ever
you want to give access..

Hi Kris,

I've already done that. I have an Analysis Services
database role which the Users are a member of and from
Manage Cube roles that database role has been given access
to the cube.

But when you try to open the Excel spreadsheet with the
pivot table, an error is displayed saying: Excel was
unable to get necessary information about this cube.

If you add the Users to the OLAP Administrators group, the
problem doesn't occur and the cube data is displayed in
the pivot table.

Any ideas...

Thanks,
Neil
