Default Pivot Table service - 11-21-2005 , 02:34 AM

I have a general question about the Pivot Table service running on a client
machine. This is the situation. A MDX query runs on a client machine,
requests and retreves leaf level data (aggregations don't exist) from an
Analysis Services cube. The pivot table service performs the aggreation
calculation and outputs a total. My question is this : does the pivot table
service cache this aggregated data it has calculated itself as well as the
leaf level data, or does it cache just the leaf level data.

Many thanks

There is a calculation cache in PTS for AS 2000. Not all results will go in
there (or stay there), but generally yes -- results of calculations could be
in this cache.

Thanks,
Akshai
