Would anyone know why the extraction process (ETL to extract data from
source systems into the DW) using integration services runs very very
slow.

The Analytics application my firm has implemented was developed by a
third party vendor using SQL server and AS 2000 and then later ported
to SQL Server and AS 2005. The source database is 40 GB. The extraction
process takes extremely long although the server on which the Sql
server 2005 is installed has high specs.

Also the reports running using Reporting services 2005 and AS2005 are v
slow.Do I need to check some settings or configurations that may have
been missed out.

how are you processing? give us 10 times more details hope that we can
help

when you say "very slow", what do you mean?
How many times the ETL takes under SQL2000 and under SQL2005?
what is slow? transferring data? commiting data? executing the source query
in the source server?

does SQL2000 run on the same server? or have you changed the server?
if its a new server, what are the specs of this server compared to the old
server?

how the disk subsystem is setup?
how the tempdb database is setup?
