Default Performance - Dimensions loading to the memroy - 09-15-2003 , 07:43 AM

Hi,

I read that dimensions are loaded to the memory of the server once the
Analysis service is started.

My question is, how does the Analysis Service get the list of the
dimensions that is going to be loaded to the memory of the server?
Is the dimensions list taken from the msmdrep.mdb file or from
dimensions files in the file system under the Data folder?

If the answer is that the dimensions are loaded from the dimensions'
files in the file system, does the Analysis Service use the .odb files
in order to get the list of the catalogs before loading their
dimensions?

To clarify my question, let's assume that the file system looks as
follow:
..\Microsoft Analysis Services\Data\Catalog1.odb
..\Microsoft Analysis Services\Data\Catalog1\
..\Microsoft Analysis Services\Data\Catalog2\
..\Microsoft Analysis Services\Data\msmdrep.mdb
Are the dimensions of Catalog2 will be loaded to the memory, though
there isn't an odb file to this catalog?

Thanks,
Shirly.
