Default Parent - Child / Siblings error - 10-08-2004 , 01:23 PM

Not sure what chould be the issue here. I have a Parent/Child Dimension based
on Employee & Manager IDs and I want to use the Name as the Dimension Member
Name. However when Name is selected I am unable to process the dimension with
the error of 'Analysis Server Error: Detected two sibling members with the
same name: Geoff McMacken (Level 04)'

If I switch to Employee ID or anything else (location, etc) for the name its
fine; I dont get it.

Anyone have any sugestions?

You may have two records with different IDs where the name is the same
(Geoff...), and they have the same parent.
You can configure the dimension to accept this by setting the "Allow
Duplicate Names" property in Dimension Editor. While sometimes justified,
this is not generally a good idea. You should check for quality issues in
your source data first.

Thanks, Just figured out the data issue our selves. I had assumed that the
data was good. Yes we will check the quality of the source but the setting
allows us to get by for now.

Thanks

Curt.
