Default parent-child dimension + user name function - 07-20-2003 , 02:49 AM

I have a parent-child dimension DimEmployee which holds
the relationship of every employee with his/her supervisor.

I am using the "UserName" function to default the values
of DimEmployee to the name of the person who has connected
to Analysis Server. I am using an OWC sample application
to talk to AS and I am getting the values defaulted in
DimEmployee as expected. Now I pull DimEmployee to Column
and drill down to reach to log-in manager. I pull many
more filters to row and filter area and measures are
displayed accordingly. with this, if I drill up the
DimEmployee filter from the log in manager to the top
level, the measures are not displayed correctly. Many
times, even when I drill up, the measures get locked at
the log-in manager level.

To add complexity to my problem, I am having some security
rules applied at cell level also.

I would like to know whether there is any limitation in
using the UserName function with the parent child
dimension.

Thanks
GS

In my parent child dimension, I have specified an MDX in
the allowed members. This MDX will allow a user to see
members up and down his hierarchy only and not any one
else.

I am using an OWC to connect to the OLAP cubes. I pull the
Measures to the data area, DimEmployee to the column,
expand to some level and pull some filter to row. Now when
I drill up the DimEmployee back to root level, the
measures are getting locked at the log in manager values.

Note: All the measures that i am using are calculated
members. Does any one has any pointer whether this is a
limitaion with Parent child dimension.

Any help on this would be really great.
