Panorama (Web) Server and NovaView (Front End) to Analysis Services Cube [These observations and comments constitute just one person's preliminary views on this subject. No one may depend upon them. No warranties, guarantees, etc., implied, express, or otherwise, are made. I have no financial interest, or any arrangement, with any OLAP software company.] Information on Front Ends ... For those of us evaluating front ends to MSAS Cubes, and web server deployment of MSAS based briefing books, you might want to give Panorama Server and NovaView a good look. I am evaluating these technologies at present. The Panorama Server appears to be an excellent web server for deploying briefing books. Its management interface integrates with Analysis Manager. I have also spent a lot of time with ProClarity Analytics Server (PAS) and, in the past, with Cognos Power Play Enterprise Server. With respect to NovaView, as a front end client to MSAS Cubes, it appears to be pretty interesting. It is a different look and feel from, let us say, ProClarity Professional. NovaView and ProClarity Professional tend to dig down and interact with MSAS Cubes on a pretty granular level. They both have MDX editors. |
