Default OWC11 - display other properties on the PivotTable - 06-10-2005 , 12:01 PM

Hi all, I would need to urgently solve this issue - if it is possible:

I am using owc11 PivotTable to diplay data from an olap cube.

Now the control displays the ID property as labels of the dimension
members I drag into the Pivot.

I would need to know if there is a way ( without touching the cube ) to
have displayed another property ( for ex. I have a DESCR property )
because I would like to have friendly names on the Pivot and not the
IDs that are unfriendly / technical labels.

Thanks and regards

Elena

When you right-click on dimension rows or columns in an OWC 11 pivot
table, there is an option to "Show Properties in Report", with a list of
applicable (custom) Properties.

Hi Elena,

There are a couple of ways to access Item Properties in the OWC Pivot
Table

- As I mentioned, if you right-click on a Field (on rows or columns),
the Context Menu includes an option; "Show Properties in Report", which
is only enabled if that Field has any (custom) Properties.

- The Commands and Options... Menu can be used.

This is an excerpt from the OWC Pivot Table Help:
Quote:
About item properties

You can display additional information about items by displaying the
custom properties of a row or column field.

For example, if the database administrator has made available two custom
properties, Manager and Phone Number, for the Store field, you can
choose to display the property values for each item in the Store field,
either in the PivotTable list or as ScreenTips.

The following illustration shows how the Employees report will look with
the custom properties Education and Yearly Income displayed in the
report.

The users of a PivotTable list cannot create custom properties. However,
they can show or hide properties, and choose whether the properties are
displayed in the report or as ScreenTips.

The following illustration shows the Education property displayed in the
report and the Yearly Income property displayed in the ScreenTip.

The users of the PivotTable list can also format the property captions
and values, and specify the order in which the properties are displayed
in the report or ScreenTip.

Non-OLAP data sources do not support custom properties.
