Default OWC and SSAS2005 Perspectives - 12-06-2005 , 06:17 AM

I want to work with Analysis Services 2005 and OWC11 in my own application
like Business Intelligence Development Studio.
But I don't know, how to work with perspectives in OWC. Can I use an
connection string property e.g.
Provider=MSOLAP.3; Initial Catalo= Adventure Works DW;CommandText=Adventure
Works;....;Perspectives=???

Many thanks for a solution.

Perspectives should just appear like any other cube, so you should be able to
substitute a perspective name wherever you would use a cube name. Note - I've
not actually tested to see whether this works in OWC, but that's the theory...

I've done it and Chris' description is exactly right.

Many thanks for the tip. I have test it with Excel PivotTabel, OWC10, OWC11
and Excel Add-in for SQL Server Analysis Services.

Only the Excel Add-in for SQL Server Analysis Services works correct with
Dimensions and Measure Groups.

Excel PivotTabel, OWC10 and OWC11 don't shows Dimensions and Measures Group
correct.

e.g. Perspective Finance in AdventureWorks DW:

Dimension Account: the PivotTable-FieldList shows the Dimension Account and
all Attributhierachies( Accounts, Account, Account Number and Account Type)
as Dimensions.

The perspective Finance have 6 Dimension but the PivotTable-FieldLists
(Excel and OWC) shows 24 Dimensions.

This is a great problem for end-users.
