Default OWC export to excel - 07-02-2006 , 02:13 AM

Hi,

Could someone please help to resolve the following issue

I am displaying cube data in pivot table reports using owc in
sharepoint services. The names of measures and attributes in teh cubes
cannot be changed as it will affect a number of reporting services
reports. But users want to see different measure names for pivot table
reports.

Iam able to change measure names and also dimension attribute/hiearachy
names from owc by going to commands and options and changing the
caption for them. In the "fields list" i can see that change. But when
i export it into excel it reverts back to the original name as defined
in the cube and ignores changes applied in owc.

Iam using excel 2003. Could someone please guide me on how to keep the
changes when exported to excel.

Thanks

The changes you make in OWC, only exist in OWC. When you export to Excel
it is creating a new pivot table based on the same connection string as
the OWC pivot table.

If you want object to have the same name in all clients, you need to set
those names within the Olap database. For reports based on the existing
measure names, you could hide the "raw" measures and then either setup
new measures pointing to the same fact table columns or new calculated
measures that simply map through to the raw measures, but with new
names.
