Hi everyone,

Say we are talking about e-commerce portal. In 1, 2, 3, what does such
an e-commerce company needs to buy to have an efficient
business-intelligence tools ready to function?

What is the approximate costs for each component please?

Expert answer would be appreciated......

common question without an simple answer.
"this depends"
your needs, your data volume, your data quality, your ETL complexity, your
number of users, your access tool etc...

if your need are really simples (just access sales other the time by
customer and product) you can use samples found on the web (or use the adv.
works sample) as a starting point.
if your volume is small (few millions of rows) then a "small hardware" is
required (if you plan a large number of users more power is required)
if your users will use Excel, and you have it, then there is no specific new
cost

its not like an OLTP where the main criteria is the number of
transactions/sec.

start small then growth. expand your hardware regarding the performance
issue (memory, CPU, disk...), add functionalities later (like campaign
analysis), take a professionnal end user tool later...
