Default "OLE DB Provider for Analysis Services 9.0" the 2nd - 06-17-2005 , 07:47 AM

Hi Dave,

now I've got the new CTP. But, I can't find a separate install of the OLEDB
for OLAP provider?!

The SQL Server 2005 CTP Setup still enforces the follow components before it
offers me the tool-installation:
- .NET Framework 2.0
- Microsoft SQL Native Client
- Microsoft SQL Server 2005 CTP Setup Support Files

The same procedure like in the last CTP!

Regards,
Rouven

Coming in the next CTP release of 2005 is a separate install of the OLEDB
for OLAP provider. Until then you need to do a Tools installation of 2005 on
the client machine.
I recognize that this is a pain, and probably not what the answer you had
hoped for.
The next CTP is several weeks out.

Hi,
how can I connect an OLAP-Cube on a dedicated SQL Server 2005 (on a
Windows
2003 Server) per pivot-view (in MS Excel 2003) from a separate
WinXP-Client?

Most likely, I need "Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Analysis Services 9.0"
on
the client to connect. But I can install this component only on the
SQL-Server 2005! How can I get and use this Service on the clientside?

Thanks a lot!
Rouven

To install just PTS, double click on the file: Redist\Analysis
Services\pts9.msi
