Default OLAP Service Down - 10-02-2003 , 04:07 PM

Hi,

Somebody knows why the MSSQLServerOLAPServices service was
down like 5 hours and then restart by itself? This is very
weird because in the services console this service was
disabled to start or stop. Then I read a Microsoft article
where the solution to this issue is install the SP3 but I
have it installed in my server. After a while the service
start by itself and I don't have any logic explanation for
this!.
The MSSQL Version is 2000 and the SQL Analysis Server is
2000.

Thanks for your help.

Can you check the NT Event Log Application Section for suspicious messages ?

Two most common reasons to this error:

1. Your data has been corrupted. The server will start/stop/restart in an
infinite loop. If this is the case - you need to stop server, delete data
directory, restart server and restore last good uncorrupted backup.
2. Server run out of memory - if this is the case, you should see "Server
out of memory" messages in event log as well.
3. Server encountered a bug and crashed. If you know exactly what you did
and can reproduce it - you need to contact PSS, and they will work with you
on delivering the fix.
