Could PHP be used to connect to a MS Analysis server and query a cube?

Sure. I saw Akshai give a demo of this using XML/A. Get the XML/A SDK (
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en )
and look at the samples. It shouldn't be too difficult to build your own
soap envelopes and communicate with the server.

Analysis Services 2005 supports XML/A natively and this XML/A shim will no
longer be necessary.

I'm not familiar with PHP so have no comment on the second question. I seem
to remember others claiming to have done something like this, but haven't
seen it myself.
