I am new in MS (OLAP) world and have some Quastions

-dose MS OLAP support other Databases like Oracle DB or MS Navision Attain ?

- i have wrote an application with Oracle Database and Applicationserver
(Java , Jsp as GUI)

* is there a way to use the MS OLAP to connect to the Oracle Database to
create Cubes ? can i connect and view the Metadata of the Cupes with an
Olap standard Query lg(MDX) using Java Servlets (jsp!)?

- Is there any good products that are able to be a professional web
interface for an MS(OLAP) Server ? do Microsoft has such products ?

- is there any usefull webpage or document for MS Olap ?

Hi there...

If you want to use OLAP you need to consider whether you want to use
Microsoft's or Oracle's OLAP technology - I prefer the first (Analysis
Services). After this the normal process would be to use Microsofts server
tools to transport the data you want away from the oracle database and into
an sql server relational base and on top this apply a cube.

Connecting and transporting from Oracle to SQL server can be defined using
DTS (Data transformation Services) tool in SQL Server.

OLAP supports every possible host system you can think of - lots of
considerations how to design your olap environment though...

Create hierachies of dimensions as much as possible is one of the good
rules...
